A. Who are the founding members of KMFDM and where are they now?
Sascha Konietzko and painter/multimedia artist Udo Sturm founded KMFDM on February 29th, 1984, in Paris, France. Sascha is still with KMFDM and Udo is "somewhere in Germany still being a painter and multimedia artist."
B. Who has contributed to KMFDM and what have they contributed?
"Everybody that ever appeared on our recordings has contributed in one way or another:
Aidan Hughes/Brute: Uncounted covers and video-animations
Raymond Watts: British multi-instrumentalist and singer
Jr. Blackmail: Dutch cynicist and poet

2. What is this "Retro" CD we’ve been hearing about?
B. How many copies were released?
"None, there were a few leaked out..."
C. Will it ever be released to retail in any form?
"No."
D. How can I get a copy?
It was sold in various locations on "Tour '97". http://www.kmfdm.net briefly had a notice in early November 1997 about TVT not allowing the on-tour sale of their "Retro" stock. Several days later, it was removed. After that, KMFDM proceeded to sell it on tour again due to high demand.
B. What is the KMFDM /Prey connection?
KMFDM is working on the soundtrack for the upcoming PC game by 3D Realms entitled "Prey". More information can be found at http://www.kmfdm.net/prey.html.
C. When can we expect a new single?
A new single with remixes of MEGALOMANIAC, ANARCHY and UNFIT is due out on February 3, 1998.
5. Why is KMFDM so anti-MTV?
"MTV is an insult to the world"
6. What is KMFDM ’s opinion on bootlegs?
"We have no problem with a 'souvenir' type Walkman recording. We do have a problem if these recordings pop up commercially for horrendous prices like 'Operation KMFDM '"

7. What does "UAIOE" stand for?
According to Sascha:
"we all need a lil' secret, don't we? if we lifted the blanket from everything and all became blatantly obvious, if painters and writers would have to interpret and explain their works, the world would be too boring.
what do YOU think it should mean?"
8. What is "Apart"?
"apart" was one of the working titles of the album that was finally released as "money"
9. What is "Aloha"?
"it was a bunch of live-recordings that got lost in a big fire when a studio burnt down."
B. Do the members read alt.music.kmfdm or rec.music.industrial?
Sascha occasionally posts to rec.music.industrial or alt.music.kmfdm when a big happening occurs. As of late, he has been posting a weekly Q&A to alt.music.kmfdm and http://www.kmfdm.net/faq.html. He recently went so far as to turn the background of the official page white one day to prove his identity after a slew of impersonations.
"APPARENTLY SOME OF THE MASTER-TAPES FOR 'OPIUM' HAVE BEEN FOUND IN A GERMAN STUDIO-VAULT. SASCHA IS AWAITING THEIR ARRIVAL TO DETERMINE THE TRACKS CONTAINED AND THE CONDITION THAT THEY ARE IN...IF RE-MASTERING APPEARS TO BE FEASIBLE, WE [KMFDM ] WILL CONSIDER TO RELEASE THE LONG-LOST MATERIAL."
